My name is Sara Ply and my husband Kip and I purchased our first German Shepherd
in 2003 from Gableridge Kennels in Ontario, Canada.
Growing up I showed obedience and Junior Showmanship with a sable and white Collie,
Sara's Golden Taffy. "Taffy" wasn't show quality but her sire was from show kennels;
Tel Star and Parader Collies.
I researched her pedigree finding many dogs in Collie Concept and magazines I read. I
guess this started my love for dog showing. "Taffy" and I earned our obedience CD Title
and our Canine Good Citizen Certificate.
I remember seeing the adorable German Shepherd puppies with their huge feet at the all
breed shows - so cute. I wanted one... They were a "large" breed and my parents felt
more comfortable with the Collie.
Just out of high-school I bought a solid black un-registered German Shepherd puppy
from a lady at the boarding kennel where I worked. I obviously wasn't ready at that age
to be responsible and my parent's and I placed him in a home. To this day I always
wonder about him and hope that I did the right thing in giving him away. I hope that he
had someone that loved and cared for him and provided him the necessary things in life!

health and good temperament came first -- but I like "pretty" so that was something that
had to be thrown in the mix as well. While researching on the Internet I came across CH
Big Jake of Gableridge (a CH Rohan's Glass Palace son) and fell in love. I told my
husband I wanted a puppy out of "Big Jake".
He was like the puppies are WHERE? Anyway, a few months later we drove 21 hours to
pick up our new "Little Jake". The friends we made in Mark Gaetz and Sandra Gabler of
Gableridge Kennels in Ontario, Canada has been invaluable in our quest to show and
learn more about the German Shepherd.
"Little Jake" didn't make it as a show puppy so Mark & Sandra gave us Gableridges
Holiday Noel (an "Alvin" daughter) who has become our foundation bitch. Noel doesn't
like to show but has proven herself in the whelping box. Producing Saddlecreeks Cattle
Kate, Saddlecreeks Doc Holliday and Saddlecreeks Belle Starr.
